What is the black cloth/fabric called on the underside of the doghouse and where can I find it in the KC Metro area? Does it need to be some type of marine and/or heat resistant material?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Under-side doghouse fabric

DJ - Thanks for the quick reply.

I didn't explain myself very well. It's not actually the doghouse, it's right behind the engine compartment.

I have an inboard with the small seats on each side of the doghouse. Right behind these seats and the doghouse, there's a "lid" that accesses the blower, bilge, batteries, etc. Currently the underside of this "lid" has some black fabric or cloth paper - it's not the same material that is on the underside of the doghouse.

DJ, does this change your answer or would you still use the same stuff?

Is this similar to what you might find under a car hood? For sound deadening? Try JC Whitney or a wrecking yard

Nope - it's not like under a car hood. It's not thick like that, it's almost like some type of thick felt paper/fabric. It is black and has some rigidity to it. I didn't know if there was some type of heat resistant, marine grade fabric/paper because it will get some heat coming off the motor???

Sounds like upholstery dust cloth. Maybe a fabrics store that sells furniture upholstery?
