I want to under skin the area under the deck and between the pontoons to help keep water from splashing against the cross members and coming up between the cracks in the decking. Does anybody know where to get some decent sized sheets of aluminum? It would be for under skinning an 18' Bass Buggy pontoon. I think that maybe about four pieces would be easier for me to handle when I go to fasten it up to the cross members. Also how thick would I need for this? Thanks

Don't know where you live so can't help with a source. Around here I'd just go to Mirrocraft or Carver or Cruisers Inc. and ask to buy some aluminum sheet. You don't need it very thick, just thick enough to hold up without a 1000 fasterners. I'd look for .062" whick is a common thickness.

I'd go to your local welding shop and ask them where they might be able to get you the best deal. They could at least lead you into the right direction. Who knows they may have some spare laying around that they would sell to you cheap.

One problem with sheeting that I have discovered is that it is hard to get to wiring.

If there is any type of comm. trailer repair shop in your area they have access to all types of alum. panels, rolled roof mat. They may even have some scraped alum. from a damaged trailer. You may be able to get cheaper.

Thanks! I found some old postings at the bottom of the page in- Similar Threads- that told about other guys under skinning their boats. That was very helpful too.

I think there is aluminum roofing as well.Probably cheaper than pontoon skin.
I have 16 year old painted galvanized on my house and barn here in the northeast.
No rust even on the rough cut edges.
By the way my daughter and I could put about 48 sq ft on in about 15 minutes.
16' X 3' pieces. They were sized at the factory. The house was another story with 2 valleys and a chimney to deal with.
