Under water LED Lights

I have a 2003 Doral 250 SE (pic attached). The swim platform is quite large, approximately 3-4' off the transom - I've been entertaining the idea of underwater LED lights but am unsure exactly of what power/kind/quantity to get.

I boat in Lake St.Clair (great lakes) so the water isn't like the Caribbean, but not quite brackish. I had my eyes on the Ocean LED Amphibian A8 Pro Extreme - apparently they are multi colour and I believe they would be sufficient power to get out past the swim platform.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to brand, model, lumens etc? Also, when mounting on the transom (single screw), how far apart (8'6" beam) and how far below the water line is ideal/recommended?

Thanks

2100 lumens shouldn't have any issues getting out past the swim platform, but I darn near choked when I saw the $400 price tag

I've build several LED fishing lights, from 1500 lumen up to 27,000 lumen, and the little 1500 lumen light wouldn't have any issue lighting up the transom of your boat and out past the swim platform. (The 27,000 lumen light,,, you'd think the little green men are coming to pick you up :D)

Before plunking down $400, I'd see if I could find something cheap to simulate the 2100 lumen light, to make sure I was happy with it's performance.....

They are cool but I wish I never put them on my boat. Just another hole in the hull to worry about.

Waste of money, just another stupid fad.

LOL...I use mine when I am pulled stern to shore in the evening so you can see where you are stepping. It illuminates the area around the ladder.

I didn't do it for looks.

And those are the cheap ones....lol

A good friend installed a pair for fishing on his 42' ocean last summer. They made is less than 6 months before they over heated and burned out. Something about the plastic bodies not holding up to the heat. We certainly was not very happy when he had to pull the boat to have them replaced. He replaced them them with the PRO series OceanLED
