Does anyone out there have a UnderCover Classic truck bed hard tonneau cover? Do you like it?

My truck: 2001 Toyota Tundra Access cab, 6? bed, 4.7L V8

I am looking into getting one. It would save a lot of time to keep my ski gear locked up in the bed of the truck in the summer. Then I could just hook up to the boat and go. Of course I would not leave my slalom ski in the back of the truck. I would not want the binding to dry out and crack. I always keep it in the house year-round.

My work is close to the boat ramp so, sometimes I take the boat to work with me and go out right after work. But the night before I have to go out to the shed in the dark, grab all my stuff and put it in the back seat of the truck. Then after I get back from the river the next day unload it all again. I can?t leave it in the boat because I don?t want it to get stolen.

I know this is more detail than you needed?but is UnderCover a good brand, easy to install and remove for one guy?

Thanks,

bill,
i dont know about the top your asking about , but i have an A.R.E cap on my truck.
it works just like you want, Ileave all the boat gear in there, and it gives me a secure place for the cover and tie downs off the trailer when out on the water, it turned the truck in to a sports car with a REALLY LARGE trunk :)
as far as takeing it off by my self , i dont think so!!

A.R.E was able to match the paint on the truck PERFECTLY ,and the truck was 9 years old at the time :)

woosterken,
Sounds great. I think the painted covers are $300 to $600 more than the black cover I am looking at. The undercover is only about $700. But I should check on the A.R.E. cover price.

Thanks for the feedback!!

I've got the Roll_N_Lock style, it's a little pricier but it rolls into a box in the front about 12" square so if I need to haul tall stuff it gets out of my way. They are made of vinyl coated aluminum and lock.

Does it ever leak when you get a hard rain?

One guy told me his three piece fold up cover would leak sometimes. I know his was a different style than yours. The three piece one sits down in the bed, level with the top of the bed and does not rap around the edge of the bed.

Mine has two rails that mount on top of the bed and the cover slides inside of the rails. Anything will leak if the rain is hard enough.

I have the hard cover on my Chevy Avalanche and it is very cool. I get secure storage and keep everything in there. It's strong enough to walk on, and comes off in 3 sections so big items aren't a problem either. The vinyl (soft) ones are ok to keep the weather out but offer no security. I'm sure they offer my type for other trucks you just need to shop on-line to find one. Google for websites for after market stuff.
