Hello every one so I have been doing more night fishing then usual because it seems to be the best bite and my schedule doesn't allow much daylight. So I want to put some lights around the boat so I know what's coming up. I don't want to reach over thinking I have a flounder on to find out its a skate. My concern is lights LEDs creating a drag through the water as well as wiring woes. For the transom area this is not a problem but on the sides is what I get stumped on. Now obviously getting them below the water line would be ideal in most cases however the water here in southern nj in the bay is murky usually visibility is maybe 3 feet. So mounting them so that there are submerged when I'm drifting or on anchor in the front is not a problem but in the rear of the boat is almost impossible. I can mount the side lights up on my rail that goes around the boat but then they will illuminate the top of the water not below at all.

Any one who has mounted LEDs on the sides can you tell me your experiences if your above or below the water line, flush mount or drilled through the hull, if your flush what did you do with the wiring to hide it? Did you make a small hole behind the light only for wiring to pass. I really really do now want to go cutting 3" holes in my boat as it's pretty old and I just don't want to risk the hull cracking or splintering Becuase its so dry from age.

Also if you have pictures of your LEDs and where you mounted them on your boat out of the water please share! There are hundreds of photos of boats in the war lit up none out of the water.
Thank you!

Mount on poles that attach topside and hang into the water.... Stow before moving above idle speed.

Yes I like smoke's idea as well. Then you also have the option(s) to move the lights anyway you like to get the best position for the fish you are going for. And then there is zero holes in the hull as well. :thumb:

Do a google search for "flounder lights" and click images... LOTS of ideas... Many made from PVC and LED's
