Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the concerns , if any, in mounting 2 surface mount LED lights on my transom below the waterline. These lights are encased in a stainless steel mounting ring. They are made by Brighter Innovation. They are their Baylight model that produces 450 lumens. They are designed for this but was concerned about electrolysis. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Underwater lighting

The stainless steel could create electrostatic galvanization if your mounting to a aluminum hull and using it in salt water. If in fresh water you'll be fine.

Re: Underwater lighting

You may want to find a different product. I have never had stainless in saltwater, but I have built a boat. Every told me not to use stainless and then cover with epoxy because without air, stainless with rust and deteriorate. I would try to find a silicon bronze or some other similar, or even plastic
