Looking at 25W VHF radio for a small trailer boat. The uniden solara is available at a good price, does anyone have any experience of this radio, or could anyone suggest an alternative cheap VHF, maybe another uniden model or GME?
Mostly as safetly feature. We have regular coast guard weather updates broadcast over VHF, We can radio in for advice on conditions or seek help. Will also use it to communicate with other boats fishing in the vicinity. Could probably almost get away with a 5W hand held, but might appreciate the extra range of the 25W version at times.
