Universal control cable

Bought a 1988 Suzuki dt85, it came with a side mount control but the throttle cable and shift cable on the motor side have been cut. Watch some YT, looks like I should be able to get some universal cable and run them from the control to the motor? Any tips or gotchas? The cable endpiece that attach onto the motor's throttle rod , are they universal as well?

See what control cables Yamaha recommends for your model of motor. Merc and Johnnyrude are quite different, I would therefore expect Yammies to have their own. Heck, even their gearcase plugs are different than merc and Johnnyrude.

Those look like Morse 3300 series. Show a picture of the end that was not cut.
