I have a boat with a universal throttle. It looks like a teleflex unit, and it's used on my '87 OMC cobra. How much 'throw' does the OMC need at the engine. I've adjusted the outdrive and lower shift cable per the manual, but the throttle is to short in one direction or the other.

Re: Universal throttle adjustment on OMC Cobra

Howdy,

Those throttle/shift quadrants such as Teleflex will usually have several holes in the actuator arms for different engines/drives/outboard etc.

Whoever installed yours must have used the hole for something other than OMC.

I installed a Teleflex CH1700 on mine and it's truly universal. for all outboards and I/O's.

Regards,

Rick
