I have an unused 50hp (1997) that starts beeping the instant you turn the key. Runs great otherwise. Factory mechanic says "there's an alarm beeping" after he cleaned the carbs and set it to running once again. It just sits there until I need it 3,4 5 months down the line and then the mech tunes it up and we use it for a few days. But there's this alarm! Next time I'll get him to find the source of the noise. Intermittent can't be low oil, can it? Maybe the oil float's stuck......

Re: Unknown alarm

Probably right about a stuck or sunk float. Should be a pair of blue or blue/white wires comming from the tank. D/C either or both and see what happens. Not sure if this motor has an oil warning module, but I've seen those give false alarms as well.
