Re: unknown electricle box

The "box" you described is the safety circuit for the electronic ignition. The alternator has to be putting out current (while the motor is cranking or running) then it internally switches 12 volts from the key switch to the power pack for ignition. It is designed to keep the motor from starting if someone turns the flywheel by hand if the key is on, or if the throttle (spark advance) is moved which could start the motor if a particular cylinder is at TDC.

I noticed a crack where this box is sealed, whould this part make my motor shut down after running for aprox. 20 minutes? the motor has no spark on all 4 cylinders when it shuts down. if you let the motor sit for 15 or 20 minutes it will restart and run fine.
