i recently acquired an outboard motor with all decals and paint gone from the covers. the top cover has old evinrude emblems on the sides and a "westwin" emblem on the back. the control knobs look like the kind that were common on cars of the late 50's and early 60's. the i.d. tag has the serial number 18302E-E11130 and under that it says evinrude milwaukee, wisconsin, usa. it is a small engine, if i was guessing 15 hp or so. any ideas on what i have as well as any way to get shop manual type info on this rig ?
thanks,
C R A I G

Looks like we're neighbors. Go to www.kencook.com/
for a factory service manual, owners manual (maybe) and parts catalog.
Some of the folks here on the board are real high on www.twincityoutboards.com/ for older parts.
There's a guy in Lewisville I'm gonna see tomorrow and I'll check if he has any parts for that thang. Any idea what ya might be needing?

c/6

Hooty

Hi Craig,
Your "Westwin" is actually a "Fastwin". 22 cubic inches and 18 horses worth of good reliable power. Motors are pretty easy to work on and all basic maintenance parts are readily available. I've got quite a few odds and a few ends should you need anything for it...
- Scott

Re: unknown make/model

hey hooty, roscoe's recommendation has a shop manual for a '64 model 18 horse. do you think there are any differences between a '63 and a '64 ? i thought the 60 page book would be worth the asking price of $20 if the info was accurate.
please advise.
C R A I G

and thanks roscoe...

harperwc
Try this site. Go to the Database and put in 18 for the HP. Looks like there is little, if any, difference between the 2 years.

web page

Re: unknown make/model

They didn't change much on those 18s from about 1961 to about 1968. 1969 saw a major internal redesign (larger carb, crank, rods, different pistons, etc.) Pretty much anything from a 1968 will bolt right onto a '61 and vice-versa...
- Scott
