I guess now that Ted Williams has passed someone had to fill his shoes. I wonder if Sears ever sold Ted Williams guitars as they would be rare too.

Back in the day retailers like Sears would hang the names of famous people on their products.....In the attic I still have an Edmund Hillary tent from Sears....

I remember going to Sears & Roebuck in my early teens and they had everything in the store, baby chicks, motor scooters and autos,(they were rebadged Vespas and Kaiser Henry J's rebadged with the Allstate brand. And yes they did sell guitars too. Either Harmony or Silvertone (same maker, different labels). That was my first guitar when I was a skinny 14 year old. There are some houses up the road and in town that were sold by Sears. All the pieces came in by rail after you ordered it. They are classified now by the town powers to be as being "historical significant."

Not rare at all, Sear's sold them as Ted Williams and Wards sold them under another name, if I remember right they were made by either Elgin or Evinrude.
Yeah, the guy isn't advertising a Ted Williams. Better duck if this one backfires!

Actually I had a 40 horse motor sold by Sears as an Elgin that was built by Scott Atwater.

Most of the small air-cooled sears were Eskas. I still have a 1948 Elgin 3.5 hp. Back then they were made by West Bend.
