Unused trailer maintenance

Hello Everyone,

My EZ loader trailer hasn't been moved in several years as my boat goes from the marina to storage and back without trailering. As such, the trailer sits outdoors unused. What type of maintenance should be performed in the event that I need to use it?

Thanks

Re: Unused trailer maintenance

Inspect tires/valve stems for dry rot. Remove/clean and inspect wheel bearings. Any signs of rust or bearings being stuck mean replace them replace hub seals. Inspect wiring for damage caused by rodents (they love wire coating) clean any corrosion that might be present. Inspect lights for rust in the sockets and around the grounds. You didn't state if the trailer was equipped with brakes. If so inspect and lubricate pivot points. I'm sure i am leaving something out but this will get you started. Good luck.

Tires, bearings, general rot in the trailer structure and electrics.
