OO guys, thanks for you're opinions, I found a 20' GW invader cuddy, I offered 3,500, and if some other prospective buyer dosen't buy it today, its mine. 4.3 mercruiser, real nice ungalvanized trailer. Ran good in the water, though even though it had power steering, it didn't feel that easy to turn the wheel, don't know if thats normal. A few things though. I didn't think to check for soft spots in the floor, didn't pull the dipstick to check for sludge or water, can do those next time. Also the boat was in the water, so I'll have to look at the hull when I go back and have him put it on the trailer. Hears the thing, He said theres a small patch on the bottom, would that scare you away, or should I just pound the area with my fist to see if its solid. The condition of the boat is fair to good I guess, a couple small tears in the upoulstry, bottom dirty (stained?) from being in the river. Under the engine cover looked very nice, no corrosion. There was water in there though. It wasn't covered all the way, would that scare you? Thank you again, Joe

I would think it would be wise to check the boat out of the water before you make your decision.

definitely need to check out that hull when out of the water.
For $3500 based on the info you have given I am not feeling warm and fuzzy over the deal.
Should be able to get a pretty nice boat for $3500 (at least around here)

If you buy it, you might be asking how to fix several items after the sale.

I'd check out the concerns before buying. Even the small tears may not mean
much to you, but they might really scare others, especially women.

Good luck.

Pretty steep, learn more before you write the check.

Just an opinion

What year is this boat? I am guessing you meant there was water in the bilge? $3500 is awfully cheap for a Grady White, I am guessing that's what GW is? I would check it out, and why was there a patch placed on the keel? Sounds a little fishy, could be a headache.

I don't know what you'd call a bilge, the water was in the little area under the engine, and yes, I need to see the underside before buying. It's a GW invader, 93' 20' cuddy. No, its far from perfect, but not too bad. I don't think you could buy a real nice 20' cuddy without paying much more, right? Patch on the bottom has me worried though. I mean, I do some fibergalss work on corvettes, I'm not afraig of getting dirty, I guess I'll probably know when I see it. Boat seemed pretty good though.

Well, the bilge is that area under the engine, the inside of the boat where the plug goes. Many people will stress about a little bit of water in there, but it's bound to happen, especially if the guy keeps his boat in the water all the time.

The thing that gets me is, it's a '93, 20 footer, for $3500, that's awfully cheap. My momma always said, "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. ." That is awfully cheap for that boat.

Well , I don't know, everybody slse on this thread was saying for this much money, walk away. He was asking 4500, I offeres 3500, I thought I'd be pretty save there, but he was gonna wait for todays prospective buyer to see if he could get more.
