Sorry this is a bit long, I just had to cry over my spilt milk.
Spent two really nice days on the water Friday and Saturday. Yesterday was really nice too. Got out at 9:30 and did some skiing, picked up a buddy and cruised a while. Met up with another guy who just got his new engine put in and were hanging out at the sand bar.
We did a few adjustments and headed out for a cruise. We were gonna show him how to get around, where not to go, things like that.
So, I let my daughter take the helm and I am chatting with my buddy when I feel the boat start to dig. I asked Autumn why she trimmed down, she replied, "I didn't". Uh Oh
Trying to avoid panic mode, I take the helm, trim the drive up and watch the needle go back down. A couple more times of this and now it doesn't move period.
I shut her down, my buddy pops the hatch and the resivoir is empty. He starts giving me a hard time about not being a good Captain and not performing my pre-trip checks. But I did. All fluids were good. About this time, my youngest daughter wants to go for a swim so we close the hatch to sit and scratch our heads, when, yep, you guessed it, OIL SLICK
.
We got to the trailer, got the boat up to just about where the skeg wants to hit, ratchet strap the drive up and inspect the lines. My hydraulic line is cut. I don't know from what or who (I am hoping not a who) but it is definately a cut. It is up in the collar where it could not have been hit by an object.
Now, I can't get it into the shop until Monday next week and they don't know if they will have it done by the weekend following.
Well, I guess I will be hitching a ride with my buddy next weekend. Wonder if I can get a steel braided line that is cut resistant
I feel a little better. Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
