Mercruiser 120 was stalling at wide open throttle, then getting worse the more I ran it,to the point it would almost not start. Had carb rebuilt, changed condenser, new coil. All to no avail....problem consisted. Been reading on here about stalling issues....well today I used a seperate gas can and put hose from fuel pump into gas can....boat ran perfect...put hose back on gas tank...started stalling......so now I have to figure out if its anti-syphon valve or fuel pick up tube,(wich i have no screen on). Can I make one myself or is this something i need to buy? Anyway i have isolated problem and just have to fix it....I am ecstatic:D.......Thanks to the forums and all the advice you savvy boaters give out.

Great work so far, by running on a test tank you've eliminated several components from the list.

That leaves(as you mentioned above) the A/S valve and the pickup tube. There is also a third possibility - the vent. Run with the fuel filler cap removed, if the stalling goes away, then you know the problem is a lack of venting.

because you got a bunch of crap out of the fuel filter, i would pull the tank pick-up and check the screen even if it is the tank vent (check to see that the hose isn't kinked, etc... running with the gascap off can tell you if that's the problem too.). You may have a bunch of crap in the tank and unless you get the source of the mess cleanued up, it may just happen again after you fix it...

Food for thought..
