I have a 1979 Sea Ray with a Mercruiser 898 that needs a new outdrive, would it be better (or practical) to upgrade it to a newer design? If so which one?<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Jon S.
Any Alpha 1, gen. 1 will work....You just need to shop around....You can find S.E.I. drives on ebay cheap, from what I have seen they have recieved pretty good feed back....Look in the search functio for more info....JK
I have a 79 viking deck boat with the 898. The motor runs great but the outdrive is shot. Can you tell me what my options are to replace it? This is my first boat and i dont even know where to begin.
