I have a 1998 bass tracker 175. 17.2 ft boat. batteries were in the rear with the gas but I moved them up under the hull. This displaced 150 lbs to the front of the boat. Now the boat rides nice and flat with 3 men on board. Only problem is my 25hp 2 stroke merc is not pushing the boat past 17mph. I am either considering a 2stroke 60hp or a 2stroke 75hp merc. The 60 is 100 lbs lighter. Will the extra weight of the 75 make the boat the same speed as the 60? What do you guys think? What do you think the max speed would be for both? Also, what about holeshot?

New or used motor? if new another option for you may be a 70hp 2 stroke yamaha IF there is any left. Local dealers have been dumping cheap in my area as yamaha phazes out the carbed 2 strokes, 4500$ with controls and RIGGED was the price I was given a few weeks ago.

I would be getting a used motor. There is no chance that I will be putting a new one on. I would rather get a new boat.
