I have a 4.3 cobra with the single throttle, gear shift control. I'd like to swap it out for the dual control with the throttle and gear shift separate.
I've been looking online and the ones I've found won't work with Merc's and OMC.
Is this even possible to do?
found a picture of my current control.

It's possible but I wouldn't do it.

You run an even greater risk of shifting into or out of gear with the engine NOT at idle. With a dog-clutch Cobra, this can be fatal. You also run a greater risk of having the engine go into gear when you don't want it to causing a safety issue.....

The big "GO-Fast" boats have them but those controls cost a fortune.

Single controls are pretty much the "standard".

Thanks..never considered those possibilities.
I guess it's trouble shooting time. The previous owner has the choke zip tied open so she doesn't idle very good when cold. Makes it a pain to navigate around docks and boats when I launch it.
I was thinking with separate controls I could idle it up a bit in neutral to keep it running until it warms up a bit.

You can already do that with any single arm control. You probably just don't know how to use it yet. Have a picture of your control?

No I don't have a pic.
It is your basic control. Trim switch in the handle and the lock out button you have to push up to shift into gear. It doesn't have the seperate throttle control on it.

Re: upgrade to dual controls.

It is your basic control.

OMC (and every other manufacturer) had a lot of different styles, shapes and size of "Your Basic Control".
Some have a button in the center pivot of the shift lever, some you pull the handle out to get to throttle only.

Either way, you start in neutral, either push the button in or pull the lever out and push forward to use throttle only. When you come back to neutral, it will automatically go to normal mode of shift and throttle.

Ya learn sumth'n new every day! :) By "pull out" do you mean towards the center of the boat? I can't say if there is a button in the pivot because I never looked for one. The boat is still in storage so I can't check but damn..that will make life much easier if it does!

Follow this carefully while looking at the picture.
With the shifter in the neutral position
Grab the pivot area of the shifter handle with your left hand (Green arrows)
Pull outward toward the center of the boat (Red Arrow)
Grab handle with right hand (yellow arrow) and squeeze button (Blue arrow) the move forward out of neutral position.
You are now in throttle only position.
If you pull it all the way back to neutral again, it will automatically go back to shift and throttle until you pull it out again.
