My engine is a Merc 888 with an older style throttle handle with separate trim switches in the dash. This system uses the old style prestolite system with a single trim solenoid. In my quest to make my boat a bit easier to operate, I picked up a gently used newer style throttle with a tilt/trim rocker and large square trailer button in the throttle handle. The new throttle has 4 18 or so gauge wires for the trim system. My old dash switches have some fairly heavy 10-12ga wire.
I haven't had a chance to dig through the wiring diagrams yet, but has anyone successfully made this conversion before? Any tips before I dig in?
