I have a 1990 chaparral with the 3.0, the part # on my starter is 1109490. I have tried to find the answer to my question but, I want to be sure before I purchase. My starter turns over very slow after a few seconds of cranking making the boat hard to start specifically on the water. I am confident its the starter ( battery in new, connections good). I believe I overheated it priming my fuel pump. I want to be a quality replacement (not from DB). I would like to upgrade to a more modern set-up. Does anyone have a part number for a bolt on quality upgrade?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Part numbers vary by manufacturers, 'n suppliers,....

What ya want, from whoever ya wanta buy it from, is the new permanent magnet motor starter,....
Yer's is probably the straight across bolt pattern, so that's what ya want again,....
The only other option, is ther staggered bolt pattern Chevy starter,....

When ya order it, get new starter bolts, For That Starter,....
The old bolts for the old style starters are just abit longer, 'n will feel tight, but won't be, causin' Busted stuff,....

any recommendation on a brand? My starter have a short bolt for the bolt further from the engine, and a bolt that seems to have a very long head for the other bolt it is the original delco starter. Thank you for your help.

1 day service, if Napa doesn't already have 1 on the shelf,.....

'n Nope, I don't remember the part numbers, other than they start with an M,..... for Marine,.....

btw,.... any relation to Tom,..?? :D

I have been told he is a distant relative from family members. Something like 6th cousin could be B.S. LOL. Napa carries marine starters? I didn't know that. any GM bolt straight bolt pattern permanent magnetic starter should work then, provided its Marine of course.

Napa is a franchise, they're not all the same,....
My Napa has been a Great parts house since I found 'em in '75, long before they were Napa,....
But All Napas carry the Seirra line of Marine parts,.... same line as iboats,....
Maybe ya oughta order it from here, to pay our rent for these free forums,....

I would if I knew the one to order, The only thing I am concerned about is the starter being compatible with the flywheel size. I am a fan also, I don't get asked often anymore.

Ayuh,..... As I've said, there's only 2, straight across bolts, or staggered,.....

Just get whichever you've got,.....
