upholstery question

I had some seats made last year and didn't think to have a lifting strap made into it, So I added that later, but it needs a bit of fabric added to hold the strap up so you can get a hold on it.

The question is what sort of glue. I was thinking super glue.

Re: upholstery question

for lifting straps I usually use hidem and cut it long enough you dont need to add to it...a picture would help as well, not sure what you mean add cloth and use super-glue?

if you want to add it right buy some staple hide (hidem) and cut a 12" length...fold it in half then staple or screw it to the seat base, makes a good handle and you wont have to super glue anything!

Re: upholstery question

ok this may help.

this is as it is now.

I want to glue another piece of upholstery on to hold the strap in place. I looked on line and saw some glue made by Loctite for vinyl that should work but I have no experience in this area.

Have also been thinking on making some alum L brackets to raise the strap attachment point up high

Re: upholstery question

now I see what you mean...the loctite will work, but not sure why you would need it...when you close the seat the handle will be up where it needs to be...but as long as you use a vinyl to vinyl glue (most wont stick to vinyl) you will be fine, might not get the look you wanted though

Re: upholstery question

TY I appreciate the info, Its a odd application and a very heavy seat, 24 x 72 inches, its the cover for my rod box and the more I think about the more I am convinced it will need some metal in order to hold up any period of time. I will make some alum L brackets to extend it up and add the pull loop on top of those.
