UPS is at the top of the garbage list today.

I ordered and received a package from Cabelas today.

Upon arriving home I discovered huge ruts in my lawn where a dual wheel truck sunk in the mud and spun it's wheels to get out. No one was home so there was plenty of room in my gravel driveway. No excuse except not paying attention. Pure stupid.

No note left by the driver.... an apology would have gone a long way.........

Okay I am annoyed about the driveway and the lawn and I find my wife had brought the package into the kitchen. I looked at the box and it stinks like cheap aftershave. Hey..... I am alergic to the stuff and it triggers off my asthma!

I contact Cabelas and UPS. Cabela's makes a "note" of it and UPS said they would have someone call me in the morning. I explained that I would not be home and the UPS answer was that's okay we will leave a message on your voice mail! How in the heck is that going to fix the problem? I asked for a local phone # and "sorry but we can not release any local numbers"....... Once again NO APOLOGY.............

Gentlemen.... my buttons have been pushed and I really doubt they are prepared to stop the anger I have right now. I can't believe I actually paid for the shipment and get all this BS.

Re: UPS Rant

That sucks, I used to live where there was mud and ruts and I know what a PITA it can be. I had an 18 wheeler get mired up to the axles in my front yard once while living on my farm in TN; it was the gas company coming to dig up a main line in the back 40. It took me two months to finally get someone to pony up and come and fix it!!!

However, be thankful you actually got your package. Read my rant http://forums.iboats.com/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewthread;fid=20;gtid=1290795
I'm waiting for boat parts now for nearly two weeks.

Re: UPS Rant

UPS customer relations couldn't be worse. I don't understand why so many businesses work with them exclusively, DHL and Fedex both do a better job for cheaper.

A few years ago I shipped an LCD monitor UPS through the shipping counter at Staples to someone on ebay. It was in a big box with lots of peanuts and big peices of foam. It arrived broken, box abused. Because I used Staples to ship, I had to go through them for the $300 UPS insurance. UPS arranged to pick up the broken monitor. Then they said they wouldn't honor the insurance due to insufficient packaging - somebody threw away the peanuts. I asked the buyer why he threw them away, he said they were there when UPS picked it up.

So I had to go back to staples, to yell at UPS via the dumb girl working at the counter. Eventually she just handed me the phone to some manager at UPS, who couldn't have been more rude or stupid. UPS would only agree to pay $100 even though I specifically paid extra for $300 coverage and have proof that's exactly how much the item was worth.

After I got off the phone with that moron, I talked to the manager at Staples. He agreed UPS was obviously at fault here, and let me walk out the door with a brand new LCD free of charge...even though he had no real obligation to do so!

UPS makes me want to puke! :|

Re: UPS Rant

Could have been worse, Bob.

Years ago when we lived in IL we had a neighbor whose children gave them a CO blue spruce for their 25th anniversary. Came home like you did to find not just ruts. . . they ran over my neighbor's tree! I replaced the tree but never was able to convince them it wasn't me.

I will still take UPS over FEDEX. The FEDEX routing people in Ft. Worthless refuse to admit that Whitt exists, so anything addressed to me goes back with an "incorrect address" label on it. :|

I'll rant a little too! In the last week I have recieved two TV stands, each costing over $300, and both we pretty much destroyed. I also occasionally get boxes that appear to have been dipped in a lake first...................

Re: UPS Rant

When I used to work at UPS it was common place to shoot hoops with the boxes and urinate on them during break.

JB, That's what ya get fer wanting to hide out. ;)

All of the afore mentioned shippers have their strengths and weaknesses, some days some are better than others.

Re: UPS Rant

As one who makes their keep shipping products I am only going to say this with regards to the packing, DO NOT use peanuts to ship anything that is breakable. There have been numerous studies done on the effectiveness of packing materials and the only thing worse than packing peanuts is shredded paper. Both of those items will settle in the shipping systems and provide less protection the more transfers they go through. The best product is the heat activated gray poly foam, next to that air pillows or bubble wrap are best. In addition to this, always make sure your box has a burst strength or edge crush test (ECT) rating to ensure that all or any of the carriers will honor their guarantees.

None of them are really great when it comes to admitting fault with lost or damaged packages.

As to why businesses deal with BROWN that is a long boring post, but lets just say that THE PURPLE PEOPLE are making great strides to be competitive. Yet they are still a ways off from truly pulling business away.

Keep on them about the issues you have though. They make it hard to file a claim for obvious reasons but they will pay up to get you to stop pestering them.

Re: UPS Rant

UPS, well I too have had bad shipments from them, the last was a check for about $12K left on my porch (yes it was marked signature required) just before a storm. Thanx to my neighbor I got my check! Other times they (UPS) deliver to someone on my street, go figure it is the right neighborhood. Now DHL delivers to my local post office, but doesn't tell you they are doing that! :/

UPS is terrible.

Customer service is the worst.

I went in person to the UPS depot and the driver had denied doing the damage! Oh maybe it was just someone lost in a brown truck with dually wheels!

No satisfaction.

I was told they tried to call me 4 times but there was no answer.

Now here is an INTEGRITY ISSUE-
caller Id showed NO CALLS - zero -
when I arrived at the UPS Depot and heard that line of crap I used my cell phone and dialed my own # at home and sure enough my voice mail answered.

Just a buch of liars.

See my new signature.

Must be your local crew. I live in the country, my driveway is a half mile long. I have had numerous packages delivered by UPS and shipped out via UPS with nothing but great service.

You can thank all the folks who defraud shipping companies for everything from yard damage to item damage for UPS's response, but I think it's stretch to debase the entire company over the alleged irresponsible actions of an employee.

Seems like there are quite a few people in this thread alone, all over the country, who hate UPS equally. It isn't just one employee. It's the way they have decided to run their entire corporation. Their motto is "we don't give a **** about the customer".

Well, maybe...and maybe I'm just a little more understanding than the average guy. But if UPS frustrates 1100 people per day, every day of the year, they'll have a 99.99% level of customer satisfaction. As a business owner, I'll take that all day long. Some of you fellows live in a much more perfect world than do I...

But there a UNION shop! UNION shops never make mistakes or treat people like dog excrement. (insert  )

Probably no way to sue them without witnesses.

Re: UPS Rant Updated

I am a very easy person to get along with. I only have one requirement..... honesty. We all make errors and my policy is to be honest and admit the mistake. I don't ask for perfect or a perfect world..... just one that owns up to it's mistakes.

I doubt I would have even been upset if they would have said they were sorry. BUT now they deny doing the damage, claim they called me today...... it is an INTEGRITY issue.

As soon as they got caught in a lie it only got worse.
If I pulled that BS at work I would be unemployed..... and if I had the power I would absolutely suspend or fire any emplyee of mine who gets caught in a blatent lie. Of course we do not live in the perfect world and the idiots will lie again and continue to not pay any price.

I used the "customer service" email on the UPS web site and still no reply at all.

Try this route, call the1-800-pickUPS number and say manager.

It may not get you any further but at least you will be talking to someone with some authority at a regional level.

Re: UPS Rant Updated

That does not work...... I was on the phone yesterday (and the night before) and I asked for a regional manager and I was told they only communicated by email messages.

They could not be connected by phone at all and NO phone numbers were available. I was told I could write to the main office in Atlanta.
