Okay, are you ready for this. I have had some seizure activity. I had a seizure 2 falls ago and didn't get a chance to winterize. Cracked exhaust manifolds. Mechanic pulled the engine and said it was junk. Called me two years later and said a lady brought in a bad boat with a good motor, would I like to buy it for $1800. Sure I said. $3300 total when done. Got my boat back and guess what? I am 99% sure it is my old motor. Can I confirm somehow with engine block serial #?
This is only the tip of the iceberg with this guy. Lansing NY to be more specific. His father was great, now the rip off son is running the business.

You should be certain before calling him out on a public forum. With only 9 posts to your name, that can look more like sour grapes.

Most of the external (viewable) components probably came from your engine. A block is a block. Not much to notice as a viewable change. In your records, you should have the original engine serial number to compare to.

If you are unable to climb in and find serial number, there is a boat dealer just north of you in Preble. They have been there a long time, but I don't have experience with them. They use to be a Starcraft dealer (my brother bought a boat there). Now, I believe they are a Glastron dealer.

Okay, after install I took it out and the engine coupler broke. He didn't align it and charged me $1000 to install a new one.

Well, that sounds like it should have been covered by the work performed. What was his reasoning for it not being covered?

Back to the block id. You should post your year, make, and model of your engine, and someone should be able to point out where the serial numbers are. Merc info can be found in the Adults Only section.

You should answer Bondo's question on why you think it is your original engine, too.

If the boat was purchased used, and/or the serial numbers were never recorded, not much to do about it now.
