urethane floor paint on fibreglass?

I have several gallons of urethane floor paint, the can label says it's goo for marine use, I was going to paint under the carpets and under the cabin floor and under the seats. Is it a good idea or should I go and get some bilge paint?

Are any of the floor going to be exposed? Or will the floor paint be totally covered up by carpet? The reason I ask is, if you get that bare painted floor wet, you'll most likely slip, and fall on you a$$, or worse, out of the boat. It says its good for marine use meaning, good for the wood TRIM and HULL around your boat EXCLUDING the deck. I wouldn't use it, unless you're looking for a law suit. And I think that if you are going to totally cover the areas with carpet, it wouldnt last as long as if you used an expoxy.

Oh! I read the whole title now! You want to paint the fibreglass? I thought it was a wood deck. No you shouldn't use that, I think it would peel right off. Find a suitable fiberglass paint. What you have is for wood.

I've used it. It is a one part urethane. It is the same thing that marine stores sell at triple the price. It adheres excellently and has a perfect gloss. Urethanes are typically sold as concrete floor paints also.

there is a lot of mold from waterdamage, I'm going to bleach and clean the whole cabin, i just want to seal out all the possible germs I may miss

ya it peels and chips easily. I also tried it on an 8ft dinghy years ago it all chipped and peeled after 3 trips out. Its worth doing it right... It will save you a headache later in the season. Boats and the paint for boats isn't cheap for a reason.. <br />Good Luck
