I have found a 88' 14foot bayliner Capri for 350$, it has no motor, but the hull looks good, gonna need to be re-wired, and new seats and carpet. The question i have is does anybody have a PDF format owners manual for it? also, how big of a motor can i put on it? and anything else i need to look out for before i buy it?

Thanks a lot guys, I Really like the site too, looks like it has a lot of info on it.

I have an 1988 19.5 with an I/O. I assume the boat your talking about will take an Outboard. I have an owners manual and if you call they will send one for free but I don't have a PDF. Ask to speak to a Tech or Product Engineer they should be able to let you know what the boat is rated for.

Customer service phone no. for Bayliner. 360-435-5571.

The hull price is okay but I'd count on having to replace the wood decking under the carpet (check for soft spots) , possibly the transom and the foam underneath it unless the previous owner already did it. Nothing that can't be done if your willing to do it yourself or pay quite a bit to get it done but Bayliners (and most old boats) are known for this and I'm in the midst of the same. Go to the restoration forum on this site and you'll get the skinny on how to do just about everything.
