I cut the 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood for my new transom but I dont think it is going to be as tight a fit as I hoped. Can I tear some shreads of chopped cloth, mix it with resin for strength, and pack it in around the transom?

I have seen guys use the fiberglass tape around the edges but should I also cover the inside with mat or roven? It seems like if your using a sheet of cloth to cover the inside you wouldnt need to use the tape.
