I have a question for everyone, with a request attached. Here's the question:

Do you plan to do anything special for the troops when they get home?

I help moderate a sportsmen's web site that serves the SE US. We have started a Take a Soldier Fishing effort to get these fine men and women out on the water for a day of fishing. It's the least we can do. This is a quote from the main organizer which details our efforts so far:

A little up date on YOUR SUPPORT for OUR TROOPS!!!!!! Folks we're doing GOOD!!! As of this morning we have 75 seats available with just everyone taking a single trip. Right now we have broken into the low 30's with the number of boats that have volunteered!! Several of you have offered more then 1 trip. This will put us well over the 100 seats that was set as a goal. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!! I am working the details of how the trips will be divided up and how to work contact between the soldiers and the Capt's for the final link up upon the kick off of this. All depending on them coming home of course. Again thank you for your support, and if you know anyone out there who is willing to get involved with this please pass the word. I'll keep everyone updated as I get more info, Again Thanks, Stan.
It would be nice if we could get this going all over the country. A lot of the people who volunteered are professional guides who are giving up a day that they could be bring out paying customers, but they realize that you cannot put a price on the sacrifices that our troops endure to protect our freedom to use our boats, and everything else, when we want.

You don't even have to take them fishing. Take them on a cruise, or tubing, or for a day at Peanut Island.

What do you say. Who would be willing to organize the effort in your particular area?
Who will sign up to show our appreciation for our troops. You can use the form below to indicate how you can help.

COPY from HERE DOWN and PASTE your info IN A REPLY

Board User Name

Boat name:

Boat Size:

Type of Trip: Select type of trip here - Trout, reds, nearshore, offshore. Bottom , Trolling shrimping, whiting, crabbing, etc.

How Many Seats:

How Many Trips Available:

Dates Available:

Please e-mail me at dangmuller@msn.com with some contact info. Thanks for thinking of our troops!

What a great Idea! I don't fit into the fishing catagory however I operate a sail charter business on Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts and would like to give a free charter (possibly more depending on how business goes this summer) I would also like to offer 50% discounts to returning troops. I'm going to update my website tonight with the offer.
I don't really have the time to be an main organizer up here but will do what I can to help. Great Idea! I hope it really catches on.
