Re: Used boat seats and other parts in South Florida or Keys
South FLA boys -
Check out this CL link
I just spoke with the guy. He is moving his storage yard and has a boat load (sorry) of "things." He was telling me about a 30' Searay with new gel coat, crated twin 350 engines, all new parts, etc. that just needs to be put together...$10K. Lot's of other stuff. I am going to try and get by later today or tomorrow to check it out. His number is in the ad and seems like a friendly sort.
Went and looked at it...trailer not included, but he said he could add one in for about 3200.00
Seems like a good deal, on the surface, but would really need a thorough inspection...
The two engines are mercruiser 5.7L supposedly still in their crates at another site...
And all of the boats parts are supposed to be in an enclosed trailer right behind the boat...
The gel-coat seems to have been recently redone, but only from th rub rail to the water line, it needs to be cut and buffed...below the waterline, the bottom paint is partially removed in preparation for recoating...
The upper deck seemed OK, but I did NOT climb onboard...
Most everything that can be removed has been...
Story is the owner moved to California, has over 12K in it, can't afford to ship it, can't afford to keep paying the storage...
MJ, the Manager/Proprietor of the yard, said the owner told him that if he could get the 10K for it, to sell it...
IF, and that's a BIG IF, everything is as he says it is, and the actual deck and hull are sound, and all the necessary parts are there to complete the boat...my best guess is that a cash offer of no more than 7-9K WITH a trailer, would be a real good deal...I am going to check with my buddy who has the cash available and tell him to offer the guy 5K and see what develops...
I honestly believe that it could be a nice project, that will take between 5-10K, maybe less, prolly more??? to put back in pristine shape...IF all of the above is true...
And, in the end, if you can get it for low dollars, and find that its not worth it to restore, and the engines are what he says they are, you could prolly break even on them alone, not to mention all the other salvageable parts....
He has other boats available, and they are all for sale...he is moving, but it will take a while...He is definitely looking to unload as much inventory as he can, before he has to move everything...
If anything develops in the next few days, I'll let y'all know...
