Upon finding a low level of power steering fluid today in a 6.2 350hp Mpi, I used regular transmission oil rather than dexran III rated automatic transmission fluid. Didn’t fill much - approx 50-100cc. What to do?

the saginaw power steering pump doesnt care if you have ATF, 30 weight, 40 weight, UTF or a mixture of all the above.

if you dumped in some 90 weight, it will mix with the light weight ATF

if you are worried about it, flush the system and refil

You are overthinking this, but I tend to overthink things, so no prob. In an auto transmission some oils are required for mfgs. requirements for clutch grab, valve body functioning, etc. But a Merc's PS system isn't so fussy. You are OK.

But I'd keep an eye on the dipstick. If it continues to drop find the leak and fix it.
