Using CDI analyser to set ignition timing

I bought the CDI aftermarket ignition analyser to set the Idle and Max riming in my 96 90hp V4 Looper.

Looking at the Clymer manual it mentions setting a switch on the OMC analyser to one of two positions depending on whether the engine is V4 or V6 however the CDI analyser does not have this option it has no switches at all?

Any ideas?

my recommendation if you are doing something that technical, get the real manual from here. http://www.outboardbooks.com/

clymers only real use is to catch the oil drips when changing the lower unit oil.

Re: Using CDI analyser to set ignition timing

Its ok all done now, I just connected the analyser and it was fine, I have reset the timing and got the Idle RPM down to the correct level which is what I was trying to do.

I also set up the linkage between the carbs as they were vslightly out of sync.

I found the clymer quite useful however I agree it would not hurt to have a proper manual.

Thanks

congrates, Chris. do get the right manual. it will save you a lot of headaches. there are somethings in the clymer that are miss prints, and just plain wrong.
