Thinking of making a new swim platform for are boat. Current swim platform is fiberglass and only 18 inches wide. Would like to make it around 36 inches wide. My idea is to use alum for the frame then attach composite deck boards to the alum frame. I was thinking of using the composite deck boards cause they don't rot and don't require any maintance after being installed

Re: using composite lumber for swim platform?

I saw a swim platform made out of composite on a 30 ft. Cruisers Inc. and talked to the owner. He said the only problem was that he should have put more mounting brackets on as the platform bent a little when you walked on it. Try 16 inch spacing and you should be ok. Actually I've been thinking about building one for my boat because I can't find one wide enough to fit. My boat is 12'6" at the waterline. B
