using different batteries

i know the physical difference between an auto and a marine battery. heres a question i'd like an answer on. i was told that it is better to use an auto battery on your outboard engine and a marine battery to run all of your accessories (pleasure radio, cb radio. running lights, depth finder, etc.)is this true? and how do you hook them up? keep them charged?

I always run a marine cranking battery for the outboard and marine deep cycles for everything else.
You need an onboard charger for the best results to keep the batteries at full charge all the time.

Nope......
Use a Marine Starting Battery , for Starting......
And,
A Marine Deep-Cycle Battery for all your Accessories...........
There are Many ways to wire them.......
Selector Switch.... Isolators..... Etc.......

If your starting your 35HP Force, feel free to use a (marine) deep cycle only. That starter isn't going to draw more than 60 amps.
However, on the high seas two is always better than one.
Personally, I like the AGM (Optima) type batteries since you get a nice high possible starting current from them plus there's no possibility of leakage. If you use one make sure you have a charger that has an AGM switch on it.
Good luck!
