Using Last Seasons Pre-Mix?

Towards the end of last season I mixed up way too much gas for my outboards. I now have 8 gallons on 24:1 and 3-1/2 gallons of 16:1 pre-mix that is approx. 8 months old.

When I mixed it up I used Star-brite enzyme fuel stabilizer. Before storage I added more of the same stabilizer to it.

Will this oil/gas mix be good to use now or should I dump it? The gas smells fresh, so I am sure it will fire, just worried about the mix separating.

The gas if for 1955 Johnson 25Hp and 5.5 Hp motors.

Thanks for any advice.

I used last fall's already installed, but not stored mix (50:1) with stabilizer in 85 Evinrude, chainsaw & weed eater and generator every year with no problems, however if you have doubts and an enviro. friendly place dump it.

Ive used 5 year old mix it worked but if it does run good add some fresh to it the oil seems to go to bottom the older the more oiler take some fresh with you then pour in and try to shake the tank good gas could separate in one winter or could last for years test out first but always add fresh just make sure no water in gas

The oil/gasoline will never seperate. It sounds like the fuel just has some evaporation issues. Fill it with fresh 24::1 mix and burn it. Same for the 16::1 mix.

I wait until my vehicle is empty and then add it to my vehicle tank when I fill up. Never had a problem although I wouldn't have had much more than two maybe three gallons at 50/1. Best of luck. Rick.

If it's stabilized, I'd use it, mixed 50:50 with new gas.

Re: Using Last Seasons Pre-Mix?

I took her out for the first time today and I fired up both motors just enough to burn off the fogging oil. Everything seems to be working fine after winter storage.

I will mix both tanks with fresh mix 50/50 before I taker her out again.

Thanks for all of the advise. These nice old motors made it all these years, I don't want to be the one to screw them up.
