I mixed my resin and hardener and applied just like always. For some reason its not flashing off. Has my hardener or resin gone bad?

I tried it twice and still nothing. Now what do I do? Start project over? is there a way to force it to harden?

Re: ut oh now what? Fiberglass Help

I always knew thats what I needed to do... unfortuanately im an instant gratification kinda guy and since resin is in the neighborhood and i dont have a clue what I need when I see all the available options out there, I just go back to resin. :)

I know I want epoxy and hardener in gallon sized containers with pumps to make measuring easy. I've been to a few sites looking for stuff and everytime I see all the diff kinds and end up leaving without ordering anything. :D Just need direction as to what kind and where can I get it in a pump container. :)

decisions decisions ...

You don't need pumps. I just use graduated pint plastic tubs or if I need smaller amounts I use a 3 oz dixie cup, make appropriate markings inside with a pencil and pour each component to the mark.

I used US composites 3 to 1. I never had any trouble no matter what volume I mixed. They're even cheeper for you cause you're closer to them. (freight costs)

When you say resin do you mean polyester resin or epoxy resin? If poly ester is a finishing resin or a laminating resin, the later will remain tacky. If you have used a polyester resin, spray it with PVA, or cover with wax paper to seal out the air and it should eventually kick off.

You can get wax additives to mix in with the polyester laminating resin to make it harden vs using wax paper. Just remember to sand inbetween layers. The wax will inhibit adhesion to the next layer so light sanding is needed. If you are putting on a second layer and the original is still (wax free)tacky, it will stick and be fine. Try this website.. US Composites

I just used waxed poly on my transom to laminate the pieces together without a hitch, you can't daddle around you have to work fast and make it a little less hot with the hardener.Unwaxed poly will stay tacky till the cows come home and you finish it off with waxed poly, Tr918 spilled the beans right
