I was wondering if you could turn a 4x8 utility trailer into a boat trailer just to hual it to my house not in any water.

Re: Utility to boat trailer

Sure, I have hauled several boats on my 4x8.

But mine has a long 8' tongue, so I was able to leave the boat hang over the front of the bed.

If you can get it on there, you can haul it.

What size and type of boat?

I'm thinking you may be able to float it home in a day or two. Be careful with that storm.

You should be able to haul that easily.

If the trailer bed is wooden, slide it on.
If it is metal, place a piece of plywood under the center of the hull to protect the fiberglass while sliding it on.
If hauling a long distance, you may wish to pad the hull, or brace it in position to keep it from moving.

Once on, secure with several tie down straps and snug it up.

Good Luck.

Load it with the transom facing towards the front of the trailer if possible.

Sure, I ve done it. I made a craddle out 4X4 blocks an short pieces of 2X6 and hualed a 12' aluminum V hull on a 4' x8' flat bed utility trailer. It woks great. It is real easy to load and unload in the water. I now have a proper boat trailer.
