V hull, hull comes to one v in the front.
Cuts thru rough water better.

Tri hull, has 3 distinct v's in the front, generally more squared off in front, makes for a wide stable boat, but are heavy and most don't handle the rough water as well. They were more popular in the 70's, especially on 14-16' open bows or bass boats.

Trihulls will beat you to death in choppy water. V's handle waves better. That's the main difference. Either is fine in calmer water. If I had my druthers, I'd get a vee. Much better resale value as well. Seems hard to sell a trihull. But you can usually buy one cheap.
