Evening all,

I have read a plethora of psi gauge install threads but unfortunately none of them are specific to my configuration.

I understand the V4 115 is a common engine, and this I am happy for due to the various (and plentiful) info here about them.

I also understand I have a "unique" configuration with my "adapter plates" and OMC jet pump configuration, and this is the "not so fun part" although I enjoy the boat and have had 3 great season with it.

I am just curious about installing a water PSI gauge into the proper place for my config.

I attempted to install a "T" into the water line in between the cylinder heads on my V4, but I am unsure if this would be an ideal spot?

After install and running the engine on the hose, I only see about 2PSI of pressure at idle.

I have ensured the tstats are open and the water hose pressure is 15PSI (in-line psi water hose gauge).

Attached is a pic of my water cooling system and where I tee'd into the water line in between the heads.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I have thought about putting it in the incoming water line, but this wont help me with readings after the powerhead.

I have also thought about putting it in the tell-tell, but it will just be pretty much reading the pressure in my manifold before the powerhead (for this specific setup atleast)

(also noted is I have installed 2 head temp sensors/gauges for each head as well)

Any input is appreciated, especially from boobie or racerone , you guys are a great asset to this forum community.

Thanks for your time,
TurboJet

Physics says that tapping anywhere in the system between the water pump and the outlet should show the same pressure.

Thanks for the feedback interalian , I respect your input as well!

You have a nice build thread :)

Hmm, maybe I will pull the upper cooling lines again and check for issues, although I back flushed the heads (from the top ports) when I had the engine pulled??

Wonder why I only see 2PSI up top there?

You would think if one port was plugged, the other side would still see pressure? (unless both are plugged, in which if that were true, I could not have back flushed them)

I also noted when the t-stats opened the pressure gauge on the water line (hose) dropped off, I had to crack open the spigot a little more...(head temp starboard side rose, although i still had exhaust and pisser flow? opening the water hose line cooled head instantly and exhaust flow appeared to be slightly more although not noted on the gauge)

This thread has some interesting feedback specific to the V4 (although it appears my V4 feeds water from the bottom of the engine, not the top? and it has some good aspects about plugging at certain points in the engine) --

Also, looking around at other V4 heads, it appears the upper cooling ports (as in my configuration) are not there?

(See attached)

I also added a colored water diagram for those interested

I may try a few other locations and see what I see, the next position will probably be the lower muffler location, in the hot water flow...

Thanks again

(Sorry, not sure why the photos rotated)
