When I purchased this boat this year I installed new thermostats and waterpump. I did notice some sand present when replacing both of these items. Is there a way to clean / flush the heads using compressed air or water without taking apart the heads ? could sand possibly clog the stats ?

You can remove the t-stats and backflush the whole powerhead. A little sand is probably okay and is long-gone though.

Just to be sure, maybe you could describe "a little".

What is the process for backflushing once the stats are out ?

Remove the t-stat cover, drop the lower unit and backflush up therough the water pick-up tube. If it is not overheating I would leave it alone and let the system flush itself.
