Can I use a car thermostat (Autozone) in my 1999 GM 305 (5.0) or does the housing require a special Volvo Penta part?

Ayuh,.... A T-stat is pretty much a T-stat, some variations in base metals used maybe,...

I'd go with an aftermarket marine unit, mostly for temp choices,..

We tend to run our motors cooler than most cars,...
