I am planning our family vacation and was thinking about renting houseboat on Dale Hollow or Cumberland. We normally rent a cabin in Northern MI, but thought we would go south this year. Does anyone have a preference? Can anyone give some recommendations for some good outfits to deal with down there? What should I look for? I am also interested in knowing if there are any land based things to see. My wife is good natured and goes on the fishing/boating trips, but I would like to be able to offer her something too. TIA for your help. I have three boys 12, 17, and 20.

Re: Vacation Advice

I noticed you mentioned south, but you can rent houseboats on the Mississippi River. I have made this run in my boat, and commisserated with many who have rented houseboats and they just love them. Most have slides off the roof and you can pull ashore almost anywhere and camp for the night. One of the outfits is HUCK's and I am not sure if they are the best. There are cities, (LaCrosse, Red Wing, and others) There is also a lake for skiing, Lake Pepin. The northern part of the mississippi is clean and the people are really friendly.

My friends and I have frequently discussed renting one of these for a week but trying to get 4 couples to agree on a week is next to impossible.
