What do you guys think of this boat ? I need a 2nd boat for small lake fishing and small river fishing... its perfect for the 2-3 adults i wanna put in it, and is light enough to tow behind any of my cars...

description

"I have a 1987 Valco 13 1/2 aluminum boat with a 1993 15-horse Johnson 2-stroke I'd like to sell. The boat is set up for use with an
Eide Boat Loader (has attachments for pulling onto an overhead rack and also dolly wheels), plus a galvanized trailer. The boat has a 20-inch transom (built-up), plywood floor with carpet, rod holders, seats and fish-finder. Trailer is in good shape with new bearings last year (hardly any use), good lights, and guides for the boat. I used the boat with a 15-hp Honda but with the weight of the motor, battery and me it wasn't ideal. Last fall I purchased a slightly larger boat with the 15-hp Johnson on it. I will use the Honda on the newer boat and sell the Johnson with my Valco. Last fall I put the Johnson on the Valco and tried it and the combination worked very well! The Johnson runs perfectly and appears to have been well maintained. I can furnish the name of the owner who purchased it new. I can furnish photos if desired."

Guy wants 1000.00 for everything.

Re: Valco Deal

I have a 1965 Valco 14' boat, which looks almost identical to the one in the ad (except mine is not so shiny). Mine has been beat up, something penetrated the hull right at the waterline on the starboard side, which was patched up with some kind of resinous substance and painted over. The middle bench looks like it had an anvil dropped on it. All that being said, its ready to hit the lake this afternoon if I wanted to! Those Valco Boats are indestructible, and nice and stable on the water to boot. I fish in mine standing up all day, and it feels very stable under my feet even when the wind kicks up. I power mine with a '68 Johnson 20 HP, and will carry me, my fishing buddy (both of us are +200 Lbs), all our gear, plus a trolling motor and fuel at about 20 MPH by GPS. My hull is rated for 25 HP Max, and I found that a 10 HP really didn't get it to move unless the weight was perfectly distributed. If you are going to have 3 people on it, you might have to dicker around some with weight and trim to get it to plane out. Also, there is not a ton of freeboard, so on windy days expect to get wet from the spray while underway.
The asking price is very fair provided the motor and boat are in good condition, based on the fact that I am selling my rig right now and have had a lot of interest at a price slightly lower than your seller is asking (for a rig that is 20 yrs older).

Good luck

You'll absolutely love that boat. I grew up fishing and crabbing out of a 12' Valco with a 9.9hp Johnson. It was a great boat, very stable, and small enough for even one guy to fish out of. I still miss that boat. Anyways, great luck with your purchace. You'll have many years of excellent service from it.

I think you've gotten enough incredible boat deals. Save some for the rest of us! I think as penance you are required to way overpay for your next used car :)
