hi,

i know that outboard prices vary by the use and abuse and not necessarily their year given varying maintenance and care records.

Can anyone ball park what a 9.9 evinrude would fetch that is in good condition and has had a good maintenance record?

thx in advance!

Those are very popular outboards here in Minnesota. In excellent running condition and cosmetically very good, 1990s models sell for between $700-900. Lots of smaller aluminum boats around here, and the 9.9 is perfect for them.

Here, short shafts are more popular. In other places, where they're used primarily as kickers, long shafts are more popular.

Check your local Craigs List site to see what is being asked for that outboard in your area.

I've seen them hit as high as $1500 here, but there's a few lakes that have a 10hp limit. It's about impossible to find a good used 9.9 motor. I've picked up used ones needing minor work or service for under $200. I just got one that needed a starter rope and had a cracked cover for $75, a new rope later, fresh water pump, tuneup and a used cover and it's as good as new.

they are one of the most indemand motors around. because they are dependable, 10hp restricted lakes. and excellant trollers. condition is everything on these. don't go repainting, if looks like you are hiding something.
