Does anyone have the procedure? Lash IS adjustable on this 4.3 engine-late '90s.

Thanks for the response. Well....boat hull is a 2000. Block cast is 1998 one head is 1996 and the other head 1998 (Jsaper Marine rebuild).

No problem, just wanted to make sure were not talking about late 1993 or so.

Just set them in place and torque nut to 22 ft lb. Easy Peeze

I looked at the manual and it does not depict what I am working with. It reports exactly what you are saying. Heads have the studs sticking out like pre-Vortec days.Image shows the rockers I am dealing with.

They look like the typical GM rockers. from pre 93 and mostly after, there were some changes but they were all stamped steel and all used studs. The difference is in the push rods and lifters. The casting numbers say they should be vortec heads.

Got a pic of the heads, and did the rockers come off the heads?
Do you have roller lifters?

Engine was a Marine Jasper rebuild. Everything is exactly as disassembled. Did have to swap block-I wasn't the one who winterized it.

It is a roller cam/lifter setup. Reminds me of the mid '80s setups in the Camaro and Firebird. Assembly of the rockers are: rockers, domed washers then the nut shown. Just doesn't seem right to stick a push rod in there and torque to XX. On the other hand the nuts (below) are not the same as the older ones either. 20160619_173204.jpg

It doesn't make any difference at all where the cam is in rotation when torque is applied? Appreciate the feedback/second-opinion. It looks like you are correct.
