Hi
This has been bugging me for years. Has anyone ever seen a schematic diagram of the plumbing of a vapor separator?
How about a good operation description of the fuel bracket assembly.

Re: Vapor separator question

OK, That looks like the one on my '98 Johnny 150HPV6. The OMC Service manual had a description.

Gasoline flows into mainstrainer, and then into left side of fuel bracket into vapor seperator, assisted by vapor pump. Gasoline drains into top of OMS pump, where it is mixed with oil, and pumped into right section of fuel bracket. Fuel then goes out top of fuel bracket to both fuel manifolds.

Re: Vapor separator question

Hi Chris. I purchased a OEM manual just for this reason, but the description is very vague. Please help me to understand this system.

1. Is the whole bracket assembly sealed and under a slight vacuum while running?
2. Do both the OMS and vapor pump work together to pull fuel from tank?
3. Is the whole reason for this system to provide the OMS with a solid fuel supply?
4. Is there a function schematic anywhere to be found?

Thanks

Re: Vapor separator question

I had only the OEM Manual description to go by, but since Hurricane Sandy washed my manual away, I have only memory and some assumptions.

I think the vapor separator would need to be sealed, in order to work.
I think the vapor pump and OMS pump would need to work together.
Yes, the vapor seperator gets any air out of the fuel supply. You also only prime the separator with the primer, not the carbs, because you would push straight gasoline into the carbs, w/o a seperator.
