Vaseline + orbital buffer = a good idea?

Im not trying to restart the vas argument, this question in for the users of the stuff and their experiences with it, could I use an orbital buffer with a terry cloth cover with the vaseline? Is this a viable option or am I missing something? I did a test area with the vas and it seemed to work wonders on my old paint, but it seems like not much fun trying to do the whole thing by hand.... Any thoughts or previous experiences with a buffer would be helpful... Thanks yall!

I feel the same way, tried to get help with suggestions for naming the boat and had 9 people respond. I know it is a personal desicion but I would have liked some input from other boaters. I have seen similar posts with responses from a lot of people. Makes you wonder what you have to do to fit in here.

By the way, I would help answer your question but I don't have any experience with your question. Sorry, actually I came to your post to see the responses and learn something.

You can hand rub vasoline, or you can orbital buff it in, or you can apply it with your feet, it doesn't really matter... No matter how you do it, it is a temporary fix... Good luck and enjoy the temporary shine...

so.....out of respect.....we all kept our mouths shut.

Re: Vaseline + orbital buffer = a good idea?

i have not used these two products on my boat yet but i did use them on a 1980 firebird. after the buffing, the black paint looked like wet laquer. i could read the highway signs in my hood.
they are made by 3-m and called finess-it and finess-it 2. they are fine and very fine polishing compounds. finessit-2 is a swirl mark remover. they are pricey but they yield carshow results. depending on the condition of the finish to be restored, one might have to start with some economical rubbing compounds or you'll be polishing oxidation and scratches to a brilliant shine. the firebird was actually done with mirror glaze first. it polished the scratches. i had to use other products to go deeper into the paint then tried the mirror glaze again. it looked great til i saw the swirl marks. car looked like it was wrapped in spider webs. finally i went to a ppg store and bought finess-it. finess-it one got me where i needed to be in the first place, finess-it 2 made it look like like a brand new paint job with a dozen clearcoats over it .
