Velvet drive Question

I am restoring a 75 Chris Craft Catalina 251, I have a rebuilt 350 left hand rotaion and got a rebuilt velvet drive. I understand the front pump has to be set for the engine rotaion. I was hoping a borg-warner guru could point me in the right direction. I have the transmission bolted to the motor on a stand and I am able to run the engine. When the shift lever is moved forward the output shaft turns left with the engine, when the shift lever is moved aft, the output shaft reverses and turns right. Does this indicate the pump is in correct or do I need to pull the tranny and check it , TIA Tom

Hi Tom..

The pump is indexed correct.. If the pump was not indexed correctly, it would'nt do anything..
