Vent an aluminum prop?

Can the aluminum prop be vented safely such as is common with stainless props? Seems I never see "vented" and "aluminum" in the same posts.

Planning on going to an aluminum 4-blade and would like to know if this is possible if my hole-shot needs a slight improvement.

Thanks,
Andy

It works BUT the lack of cup in a plain ALU prop has a very limited trim range once the holes are drilled compared to the same prop without vents

5/16 IS A BIG HOLE :D DRILL CAREFULL

It is in 5/8 from the edge and you have to eyeball inside the prop to be sure your not drilling into the web to the HUB

For drilling your own, follow Tom's advice.

For others who may be interested, the Turning Point Hustler is a vented Al prop. It not quite as good as an SS, but the improvement over the "Black Max" that came on m boat was amazing, especially when you through price into the mix.
