Vent hole

This may be a dumb question, if so, just overlook me. I see the precise procedure on changing the outdrive oil. I noticed that my vent hole screw did not have a washer on it when changing my oil, so I changed it anyway, oil was slightly milky. Basspro has the little $0.80 washer, but I cant pick it up til Saturday morning.....

Can I remove the vent hole screw with out removing the plug at the bottom?? I wont screw up anything just unscrewing the vent hole screw, putting the little washer on real quick, and putting the vent hole screw back in? All without unscrewing the plug at the bottom??

THanks for your help!!!!

Re: Vent hole

Leave the plug in the bottom and just change the top plug gasket. The oil will only be filled up to the bottom of the upper hole... so not a lot of fliud will be coming out. You don't have to be real quick... I think you were just overthinking it :)
